Tortall. Peaceful. Well kept. Quiet.
But the people here are soon to discover that not all is always peaceful and quiet.
There are evil forces awaiting their chance to attack. They have a hunger for royal blood, and they will not stop until the king and queen of Tortall are dead. They call themselves Immortals, and they are a group of rogues that are far more evil than any rogue that has ever been in Tortall. They slip in at night, and steal. They steal valuables, money, and even a few lives.
The tide begins to turn when it is found that the prince and the captain of the guard have strong feelings for eachother. Not only are they afraid to admit it, especially to eachother, but to any ine else. When the prince is taken hostage to get the king and queen, The captain makes her feelings quite clear, as she goes to find her love's captor, and finds herself teaming up with an unlikely hero: The queen of the rogues, Rhia.
Can two enemies (Rhia, queen of the Rogues, and Kaila, Thief of Souls [Captain of the king’s guard]) come together for the good of their homeland? Are they strong enough?
The fate of the whole land lies with them. Them, and a small band of mages : a time mage, a white mage, and a black mage. One can control the time, and weather, one is a healer of sorts, and one deals in the elements of fire, ice, lightning and water. Will they overcome the Immortals, or will Tortall be lost for good?
