Ryan entered his chambers, and sighed, turning he rang a silver bell and ordered a searvent to get two cups of hot chocolate. Turning he looked at Kaila and said,"sit sit, you must be dead." he sat down and massaged his temple.

Kaila smiled and sat. She smiled at the servant that gave her the hot chocolate. "So, what are your parent doing for the ball in two days?" she asked, trying to make conversation.

Ryan shrugged, and said, "the usuall," he adopted a mocking tone "Ryan you should consider marrige, ryan, you need a date for the dance. Ryan this Ryan that." he sighed, "it really gets anoying. They want me to, invite a girl to the dance. " he stopped for a second. "I am waiting for the girl i like, to tell me her response."

Ksila smiled. "Maybe. You should ask her to the dance?" she said shyly. SHe looked at her cup, now half full, as she had consumed some hot chocolate.

"I will," ryan sighed, "Kaila, will you go to the dance with me?" he asked shyly befor hiding his face in his hands. "if you don't i will understand." he mumbled, through the mask of fingers. He looked up hopefully at Kaila.

Kaila looked up from her cup with her eyes, her head still down. She smiled, as she studied Ryan. She nodded. "Yes, Ryan, I will go to the dance with you. Id like that," she said, as she watched him look embarassed. She blinked her emerald eyes, which sparkled.

Kaila smiled and lifted her head a bit. She was used to being able to go to the roayl balls and parties, but she had never been escorted. Usually, she went on her own. She smiled at Ryan and moved to sit next to him. "I was hoping you would ask. You dance with me at least once every ball, but you never asked me to go with you," she laughed a little.

Kaila smiled and laid her head on his shoulder. She looked out the window and saw that the moon was almost at it's peak point of the sky. "Ryan, I have to go, I have night duty tonight. I will probably sleep tomorrow, but I will try to see you in the evenong, okay?" she asked, as she kissed his cheek and stood up.

Kaila nodded as she headed out the door. She ran to her room and changed out of her commoner clothes to her guard clothes. Hers were different from the other guards, because she was a girl, and because she was the captain. She chose to wear a corset-like leather armor over a shirt of thick metal-like threads. She wore a pair of leather shorts, on whivh she wore a belt that held her daggers, soward, and sword sheath. She also carried around her quiver of arrows and bow. On her feet she wore boots which came past her knees. These had small knives attached to them, should there be an emergency.
She ran out of her door and up a flight of stairs. She was posted out on the castle's northern wall tonight. She preferred to take up her position in the shadows where she could easily see and not be seen. She stood there, still as stone. She was watching over Prince Ryan tonight.

Ryan leaned against the wall and smiled, he had a date for the dance, and he finally told Kaila his feelings. He began to sing a song that was about immortalls who had come, his rich voice echoing in his chambers.

Kaila listened as Ryan sang. She smiled and sighed. He had such a wonderful voice. She leaned against a wall and watched the castle gardens around Ryan's room. There was no movement, not even a wind. That was a good sign, although the night was still early. She hummed along quietly as she picked up the rhythm of Ryan's song.

Ryan smiled and sang his heart out, knowing that he was safe. He leaned back and thought about what the girl he had met. Rhia was the queen of rouges? he wondered, imposiblel, she is working still rouge queen should be like his mom and dad.
